		<description>sounds like they are porcelain coated grates.. if so , wire brush off any loose porcelain and give the grates a coat of vegetable oil and heat your grill .  this will season the exposed iron and food won't be as prone to stick.</description>

		<description>Heat should eliminate danger. Replacement is most likely unnecessary as long as the gill is holding up.  Use a grill brush to remove any loose rust or coating.  What you see flaking may be nothing more than old carbon buildup which is normal on any grill.</description>
