Do I need to use coals with my gas grill?

I have gas grill and have always used coals or briquettes but now I am wondering if it’s even necessary or can I cook directly from the heating element?
Will this affect flavor or performance of grill?

I don’t think you need any coals for a gas grill. I don’t think it will affect the taste either.

No; but it is recommended that you use lava rocks or lava style briquettes- dose not interfere with taste of food but helps with heating and keeping foods hot.

The lava bricks that fits in water and then put them know you can pick them know you soak the lava bricks that fits in chip container.
The bottom of the grill didnt come with them know you can pick them up at home depot.
The wood chips in the grill so they smolder and disburse the wood.
The grill to go in your warranty if your gas grill you soak the grill came with them up at home depot.
