A best gas grill will help you to get the best taste of the food you prepare in a grill but if the grill is not of a good quality it will hamper the taste of the food and you will be devoid of the delightful and succulent taste of the food. a good grill not only enriches the experience of cooking but also gives satisfaction of cooking tasty food.

The grills of today do not emit poisonous and harmful gases making it a safe cooking. Certain things should always be taken into consideration while buying a gas grill. One should choose a gas grill, which is effective and does not create pollution while cooking. The gas grill as compared to charcoal is more efficient and according to the Environmental Protection agency, the gas grills emit 105 times less carbon monoxide than the usual charcoal. Most of the gas grills available today are well equipped with the on/off switches to heat up and cool down faster. This feature is absent in the conventional method of burning charcoal.

Many gas grill owners have found out the difference in the flavor of food prepared in the gas grill and the one prepared through the conventional method of burning charcoal. The distinct flavor of barbecued food, which comes when the meat juices drop down the hot surface and then turn into vapors and gets back into the food, comes when the charcoal is used. But the food prepared in the gas grill does not give such kind of peculiar smell. Thus the gas grill is convenient to use, safe to operate, fast to cook and environmental friendly.

Best Charcoal Grills Under $100

Thursday, December 25th, 2008
Paula Cherrist asked:

So you’ve just moved into your new Chicago condo and have a great patio, balcony or terrace just waiting to be used. As long as your building permits it, the summer tradition of barbecuing may be high on your list of things to do this summer. A lot of Chicago real estate, including some of the lofts listed here http://www.bestchicagocondos.com/lofts/index.html already have rooftop building space designated for grilling. Other units may have gas hook-ups already in place and waiting for you to install a gas grill. But some traditionalists and hard core barbeque fans will say that charcoal is the way to go.

With that in mind, along with the fact that many may be on a budget, shopping for a good and reasonably priced charcoal grill is a priority. You could easily spend a couple of hundred for a gourmet grill, but as long as the basic structural details are met and the materials used aren’t cheap, you can save your money for some great cuts of meat instead. For less than $100 you can buy a charcoal grill that you can use for more than one season on your condo balcony or back patio, provided to take care of it and don’t leave it uncovered in the weather.

There are a few basic styles of charcoal grill. Kettle grills are probably the most common and they actually do resemble a large kettle. Round in shape with normally three or four legs, they are the great for grilling almost any typical meal. The four legged ones often have wheels on two of the legs so that you can easily roll them to another spot. They also often have a small fold down wooden side rack that is handy for sitting plates of food or utensils.

There are also variations on the kettle grill often called portable grills. This style is smaller in size with a more round, flat shape, shorter legs and often no closeable lid or top. They are great for a quick burger or hot dog and are usually very inexpensive, although sometimes don’t last as long structurally.

There are rectangular shaped charcoal grills that look a lot like typical gas grills. These grills are often made from heavier metals, sometimes cast iron, and have more grilling surface and greater control over cooking temperature, etc.

With those basic styles in mind, here are a few specific charcoal grill examples with the average price that they are selling for in 2008.

The Weber One Touch Silver kettle grill is a really nice grill for both beginning grill chefs and experienced BBQ masters. The actually grill measures 22.5 inches and will hold about six steaks, a dozen hamburgers or two dozen hot dogs. As with all good kettle grills, the rounded shape reflects heat back inward fairly evenly for great cooking. This grill is made from steel and is porcelain covered to prevent rust and paint peeling. It has three legs with wheels, aluminum vents and ash tray plus nylon handles. The ashes sift into a tray that is easily pulled out and emptied. Prices on this grill run from about $65 to $100.

Another great Webber grill is the Go Anywhere Charcoal Grill. This smaller charcoal grill is constructed from steel and coated with porcelain and has three nylon handles. The grate is made from heavy duty plated steel and the legs pivot and lock to make carrying easy. You can fit a lot of food on the 160 square inches of grilling surface. The Go Anywhere is priced at about $45.

The Old Smokey Barbeque Grill comes in three sizes, but all are made with the same high standards. These grills have shorter legs so you can sit and grill if you get tired of standing and is deeper so that the charcoal fire isn’t as close to the meat. This allows meat to cook through without burning on the outside. The body of the Smokey grill is made from aluminized steel to help prevent rust.

The Small Smokey is great for someone to take on trips or for someone who is only grilling for two or three people. It is very inexpensive at about $35.

The Classic Smokey is a good size for cooking for four to six people. It measures about 27 inches tall with an 18 inch diameter. The Classic runs about $47 to $50.

And for a big appetite or crowd on your patio, the Jumbo Old Smokey can handle it. The Jumbo will cost you around $70.

There are dozens of other brands and models of charcoal grills, but these examples should give you an idea of what you need to get started on your grilling adventure. So slide open those balcony doors, step out onto the patio or porch and get all fired up.

How can I get my woodchips to smoke on a gas grill?

Thursday, December 25th, 2008
ConnorWilhem3 asked:

I’ve tried two methods: foil bag with holes and open aluminum tray.

I’ve soaked the chips overnight. I have a gas grill so I have to put the bag or try on top of the triangular drip covers.
I also wait 10-15 minutes before putting a big piece of salmon on the grill. The salmon comes out with zero smoked taste.
I’m cranking the grill to 500 degrees and waiting 15 minutes.

Advantages of Gas Grills Over Charcoal Grills

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008
Amit Chakraborty asked:

Using a gas grill has many advantages over the older variety of charcoal grills. Gas grills are lit using a tank of propane, or by using another type of natural gas. Having a gas grill is a great way to cook out during both warm and cool months, and having a barbeque is great for having family and friend get-togethers.

Gas grills operate by propane tanks. This is one of the easiest ways to light a fire, because all you need to do is turn the knob, and hit the button for ignition. The starter button is easy to use, and you never have to use an accelerant to turn the flames on. A barbeque grill using propane usually has a temperature gauge, so you can monitor the heat and the knobs to turn the gas from low to medium to high. This is a great advantage over charcoal grills, as with charcoal, you need to start out with a very high flame. Also, with charcoal, you need to light the coals with a lot of lighter fluid. Not only can lighter fluid be dangerous, it can also leave the taste on your food.

Gas grills also have an advantage over others because they clean up very easily. They cool down much quicker than hot coals do, letting you take off the grill section and clean it much faster and easier. When you are using another type of grill, the coals must cool down, sometimes for hours, before you are able to remove them. Additionally, a gas grill turns right off when you are done, by turning the knob off. This makes it easier to stay safe when using a grill. Gas grills can be found from many different manufacturers, in retail stores, lawn and garden stores, and online.

How can I stop a bird from nesting in my gas grill?

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008
Jeff N asked:

I live in Michigan and have a gas grill on the back porch. This bird is piling nesting materials in the grill and I’ve resorted to leaving the top open to take away the “safety” factor, but this is not a long-term solution.

Are You The Victim Of A Poor Barbeque Grill Purchase?

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008
Bill Urell asked:

Does the thought of firing up a charcoal grill frighten you? Are you tired of filling a metal pot full of charcoal with explosive fluid, tossing a match in its general direction, and then hoping for the best? Are you currently missing your eyebrows as the result of some hideous barbecue accident?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are a prime candidate for graduating to a barbecue gas grill. So put down that eyebrow pencil and consider some of the benefits of a barbecue gas grill.

To begin with, a barbecue gas grill uses propane gas, rather than charcoal, which means you can fire it with a knob, rather than with a series of dangerous events. Additionally, you can set the temperature with the knob and monitor it with the temperature gauge, which most models of barbecue gas grill now include.

Another major advantage to the barbecue gas grill is that you don’t have to manage a three-alarm fire just to cook a hotdog. Propane burns cleanly and controllably. This means you wont have a giant black cloud of smoke hanging over your cookout. You also wont have to worry about cinders blowing away and catching the grass on fire. Additionally, you wont have to call the firestation ahead of time to let them know you’re having a cookout.

Now, given the important advantages that a barbecue gas grill has over a charcoal grill, what are some other important things you should consider before running out to the store to buy one?

The first thing you should consider is total grilling space. This is relatively easy to forget, as many of us think there is only one standard size of grill, when there are dozens. When you compare different models of barbecue gas grill, make sure you take into consideration the total square inches of grilling space. If you have big cookouts frequently, do not buy that six inch high outdoor toaster to use for your Memorial Day cookout. Instead, opt for something that offers around 600 square inches of grilling space. You will probably have to spend around $700 for such a machine, but it will be worth it in the long run.

The last thing you should take into consideration is tray space. Most models of barbecue gas grill now include pull-out side trays, which you can use to store hamburgers and hotdogs-to-be. If you don’t already have a small table to use for this task, you may also want to consider spending the few extra bucks to get a model of barbecue gas grill with pull-out trays.

How do I cut and cap a gas line to a gas grill next to my house?

Monday, December 15th, 2008
William F asked:

I have an old gas grill next to my house that is connected to a gas line from the house. There is a shut-off valve outside. I need to cut this line and cap it so I can remove the old grill completely. The gas company said they don’t do work on my side of the meter. Can I do this myself? How? Or should I call a professional? Who would I call?
