New Jenn air dual fuel, gas grill cooktop, major downdraft problems?

November 26, 2007 By: admin Category: gas grills 2 Comments →

katesrevenge asked:

Wow do I think we have made a mistake. We just purchased a brand new dual fuel Jenn Air range. This is the model with half the top being a gas grill and the other side having two gas burners. The oven is electric.

We paid $2549 for the range and another $940 to install it! So we got about $3500 into what I’m thinking is a piece of crap.

Installers leave, I’m excited out comes the NY steaks. Fire up the grill and let it pre-heat, Fan for downdraft operating on high. Throw those bad boy steaks on the grill and within 5 minutes the entire house is filled with smoke, alarms going off etc. Check downdraft ouside and it is pumping out serious air flow, I can feel it on stove when I place hand over it. It pulls down a piece of paper etc. However, when grilling, it captures maybe 25% of the smoke. As you know grilling gets smokey. Any tips to this? Is this just how it is, or could the draft piping be installed wrong? Any tips are appreciated.

Lucille

Gormet Gas Grill reviews - Where are they? Cons. Rpts. don’t do reviews?

Art T asked:

I’ve been on charcoal now for over 10 yrs. not & I want something different. I’m looking for a gas grill w/ island & need help. I’m looking for the quality grills, NOT SOLD by places like sears, lowes, home depot, etc. Does anyone have sites I can visit which would recommend the “best” grill for the money? I’ve looked at OCS, CAPITAL, OUTDOOR KITCHEN CONCEPTS(nice), & VIKING. All above $2k. I DON’T WANT TO BE SENT TO A LOWES site or related that reviews how to find a grill, I’m looking at quality brands (not Weber, brinkham, etc.)

Mr. Scary asked:

Can someone tell me if this is normal for a gas grill to shoot out flame on the little hole between the tank and the burner from time to time? please click on the link below to see the image where i circled in red. that’s that hole and when i use the grill, the flame shoots out on that hole from time to time. if it’s not normal, what is the purpose for that hole?

Which Gas Grill?

November 12, 2007 By: admin Category: gas grills 8 Comments →

lululala asked:

I see that gas has more votes..so I will trust you guys. Still I’ve heard that the food will taste like gas. Anyway, as far as brands go. It seems that they all look about the same and they all can have problems with rust..even the pricey ones. Which grill is best for the money $250-350? It doesn’t need to be a large grill, its just the two of us and a baby but we occasionally have people over.
Please be more specific..brand????

Ron
