Quick easy question about gas grills?

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010
Tara asked:

We have a gas grill, which I haven’t used but the other people who live with me have. It is attached to a big gas tank. With the gas tank you turn the knob to open it up. What I’m wondering is do I open the gas tank up first for a little bit and then turn on the grill to let it heat up or what?

Gas Grills: Infared Back burners vs. Indirect cooking?

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010
Art T asked:

I’m deliberating the type of gas grill I should get. I’ve seen several different types. It seems like most of the places I’ve been to offer have the infared backburners for rotissery cooking. I went to one place that doesn’t offer this feature & they said that the backburners dry the meat out since they’re too hot. They indicated that indirect cooking (having one burner on) is the best way for rotissery. Does anyone have any suggestions/comments on this? I’m narrowing the options down to 2 grills. This one w/out the infared feature also has a self cleaning option where the others say the warranty would be voided if I use this feature.

Does anyone own/heard of Capital gas grills?

Thursday, July 8th, 2010
Art T asked:

I’m thinking bout buying a 30″ or 40″ Capital gas grill. The 40″ has a seering burner but the prices are pretty high ($2.6k & $3.8k). Is there anyone that knows anything about Capital grills or can anyone recommend one w/ the same quality features? Sears, Frigidare, Weber, or anything Home Depot & Lowes has is out.

Why do outdoor LP gas grills last only 3 or 4 years?

Thursday, July 8th, 2010
Doogie asked:

I bought a really nice LP Gas grill from Boscovs 4 years ago - it was one of the 1st with electronic ignition to light the burners and it was around $275. The grill was only used like 15 times a summer for those 4 years… so, really, not much use at all - certainly not “heavy” useage. When I went to fire it up the other day, the electronic ignitor was broken… made no clicking sounds at all - I tried the battery, but that was not it… Also, one of the 2 burners had rusted out and a large single flame was coming out of it - instead of nice little flames around the perimeter… plus the food grates were all rusted out and falling apart… and I keep this grill covered ALL THE TIME!!! Don’t know why it would fall apart after such a short time. I’m buying a new one today from Wal*Mart and I’m going to get a cheap Uniflame for $138 - because if I have to replace it so often, why should I spend more??? Any ideas?
